Portraits | Unstaged

Overview

This series comes from a portrait photography class, where I began trusting light over setup. Rather than relying on props or elaborate backdrops, I kept things stripped down — a plain wall, a shadow falling just right — letting light and shadow shape the contours of each face.

Whatever was already present in the scene — a fence, a cap, a lit cigarette — became a quiet accent rather than a staged element, just enough to hint at who someone is without spelling it out. It's in this simplicity that character tends to surface most clearly, with nowhere left to hide.
