Strorytelling Photography | Fragments of Festiveness
Overview
This project is inspired by Martin Parr’s visual language. It uses exaggeration and saturated visual intensity not to judge, but to question how ritual, desire, and consumption structure social interaction in Christmas markets. The wide frame creates a sense of distance and surrealism, transforming everyday moments into fragments of a broader narrative.
As a foreign observer, my relationship with Christmas is marked by detachment and unfamiliarity. This distance shapes the way I look: the work observes human behavior within spaces influenced by collective memories. Capturing gestures, expressions, and fleeting interactions, it reveals the subtle emotional disconnections beneath festive surfaces.
By focusing on fragments of relationships rather than events, the work invites viewers to reconsider what togetherness looks like in spaces designed for celebration. It proves that moments of joy, boredom, loneliness, tension, and detachment can coexist harmoniously within the same frame.
